Frequently Asked Questions

What is self storage?

Self Storage is an industry in which space is rented to tenants on a monthly basis. Self storage facilities provide rooms, lockers, containers and/or outdoor parking space in which tenants can store and access their belongings.

What is a drive-up unit?

A drive-up unit has a roll-up door and its own loading area. Drive-up units are very handy because they have convenient access, just drive up to it and load your belongings in or out.

What kind of documentation do I need to rent a unit?

A valid driver’s license or federal ID with photo is required to lease a unit. When you apply and select your desired unit, the full month’s rent is due along with a $20.00 Security Deposit.

How long will the move-in process take?

The entire move-in process takes about 15-20 minutes. Please keep in mind that this time is dependent on whether there are other customers waiting ahead of you.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 1 month.

Do I need insurance?

You may carry your own insurance (check your homeowner’s or renter’s policy to see if you are already covered) or apply for insurance coverage from a company of your choosing. The facilities only have coverage on the buildings and property, so you are required to have insurance to cover what is stored inside your unit or in your parking space.
Insurance is the tenant’s responsibility.

What type of payment do you accept?

Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard. We charge a 3.15% convenience fee on all debit and credit transactions. If you drop your payment in the night payment box, please DO NOT put cash in this box. We also offer convenient monthly automatic credit card withdrawal and online bill pay.

Can I pay for my unit over the phone?

You will need to visit the facility first to sign the self storage facility agreement and make the initial payment. After that, you may call to make payments via debit or credit card.

Do you give me a key?

Yes. After the agreement is signed and payment is rendered we will furnish you with the key.

What are climate-controlled units?

Climate-controlled storage units use heating and air conditioning systems to maintain temperatures between 55 and 80 degrees. Maintaining a controlled environment is an extra step toward preventing warping, cracking, rust, corrosion, mold, mildew and infestation that can occur in severely hot or cold weather. Using temperature-controlled storage is recommended if you are storing important documentation, computer equipment and electronics, photographs, books, wood or leather furniture, artwork, clothing or other valuable possessions.

What are my responsibilities as a tenant?

To follow the guidelines set forth in our lease, which the leasing agent will review with you when you sign the agreement, and to make your monthly rental payments on time. It is important to maintain cleanliness in and out of your unit. You also need to notify us if you have any changes to your account information and give proper notice if you want to vacate the unit. Be respectful of other tenants and our employees.

What should I do if there is an emergency?

Call our office phone number and report it to the property manager or answering service immediately. If necessary, call the police or fire department (911 if it is of an urgent nature) and fill out a report.

Is there a risk of having my contents sold at auction?

It is important to make payments on time. If you do so, there is no risk of auction for your unit. However, after payment is 5 days late, the account begins to accrue late fees and access to the unit is barred. Late fees will continue to accrue until payment is made in full. After one month of non-payment, the unit can be sent to auction. Once the unit goes to auction, the tenant will receive nothing back from the unit. Any proceeds from the auction will be applied to the account balance, and the remainder will be sent to the original lessee. If the proceeds are less than what is owed on the account, the account is sent to collections.

What do I do when I am done with the unit?

Make sure to empty all of your contents, sweep out and clean the unit, and return the key to our office. If the unit is in satisfactory condition and the key is returned, you will recieve your $20.00 security deposit. Please note that while move-ins are prorated, we DO NOT prorate move-outs. This means if you decide to vacate the unit or space after the 1st, the entire month is still due in full.
